I think it’s also very important to mention that running a podcast takes a lot more time than writing a blog. There are so many things that need to be done to produce a great podcast. The most important thing is to work on the concept of the podcast. If the show isn’t good enough, people won’t spend time listening to it. And the second point is that you have a discoverability problem compared to blog posts. Podcasts as an audio file are typically not indexed by Google, whereas blog posts are, so at some point you need to produce social media content or write about your episodes in the form of a blog post.

Hi Ryan. Thank you for your article: Blog vs Podcast: 14 Differences and How to Decide Which to Start (First). It has helped me with my decision as to which to start, and which to start FIRST. I had been indecisive for such a long-g-g-g time causing me to not do either. Now I know I should start with a blog and then add a podcast. Thank you for clarifying this!!!
